Thai software makers see big opportunities in Vietnam
Vietnam’s software market has experienced a rapid growth in recent years and Thailand believes the country offers great business opportunities, said the President of the Thai Software Export Promotion Company (TSEP) Punnotok Chalermpon.
In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency on the sidelines of a seminar on software solutions held in Hanoi on April 21, Punnotok Chalermpon said that this was a suitable time for Thai businesses to invest in intelligent software in Vietnam. He added that as the economy has seen signs of recovery, competitiveness between different markets is high.
Stressing on the advantages of Thai businesses in the Thai market and other Asian countries, Punnotok Chalermpon pledged to help Vietnamese businesses access knowledge on the most advanced technologies.
After the first seminar was held in Vietnam last year, many Vietnamese companies have successfully worked with their Thai partners as well as others from Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia.
This year’s seminar was jointly held by the Thai Embassy’s Trade Office in Vietnam and the Advertising and Trade Fair Joint Stock Company of Vietnam and attracted nine of Thailand’s leading software companies.
A similar seminar is scheduled to be held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 23.
Since Vietnam brought into effect the Foreign Investment Law in 1988, trade and investment links between Thailand and Vietnam have taken massive strides forward.
In 2008, bilateral trade turnover hit almost 6.2 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 31 percent. By March this year, Thailand had 198 projects operating in Vietnam with a combined registered capital of nearly 5.7 billion USD.
