Eighty companies win int’l achievement awards

A total of 81 businesses were awarded prizes for their achievements in international integration and development at a ceremony here on Sunday.

The awards were based on targets in technology environment, quality management and product competitiveness, business service and business culture.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said integration and development had become a regional and world trend - and that Viet Nam was deeply involved.

Hung said the nation had taken measures to curb inflation and stop economic downturn to ensure high and sustainable growth. This provided money for social security and actively reduced poverty.

He said Vietnamese entrepreneurs were pacesetters in international integration and had lifted the economy to a standard admired by much bigger nations.

He wished the prize winners further successes and sustainable development.

The winners were selected from about 300 businesses that registered for the prize this year, the second year the awards were granted.

New subsidies

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has decided to give 4 per cent interest subsidies to organisations and individuals who wish to make long and middle-term loans in dong from commercial banks.

This is being done to promote investment in new business projects and infrastructure development.

The interest-rate subsidy will be available until December 31, 2011.

The news is contained in Government Decision No43/ QD-TT issued by the Prime Minister. It came into effect on Saturday.

The decision is one of a series of measures taken by the Government to stimulate the economy and assist business production.
