ANZ Vietnam wins Best Retail Bank in Vietnam award
ANZ Vietnam, an affiliate of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has been granted the Best Retail Bank in Vietnam 2008 award by Asian Banker magazine.
This is the bank’s second consecutive year, and the fourth time the bank has received the title.
The bank’s prosperous performance last year was reflected in an 81 percent deposit increase and reporting revenues twice that of the previous year. The bank is also the first in Vietnam to offer a free-of-charge mobile banking service.
ANZ is now accelerating its development plan to open six additional transactions offices in the country in 2009.
Having started its operations in Vietnam in 1993, ANZ now has branches in Hanoi, HCM City and a representative office in Can Tho.
The bank now holds an 18.35 percent stake of Saigon Securities Inc., and another 10 percent stake in Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank.
The Asian Banker Awards were first held in 2001. This year saw the participation of 120 banks and financial institutions from 22 countries in the Asia-Pacific, the Central Asian and Gulf region./.
