New railway route Hanoi-Nanning opens
A passenger train on the international route Hanoi-Nanning (China) will officially be put into operation on January 1, 2009, said Nguyen Huu Tuyen, head of the Transport Business Department under the Vietnam Railway Corporation.
The train MR1 includes six carriages which have been equipped with air conditioners and modern facilities provided by the Chinese side. Each carriage has 40 hard beds and 30 soft beds.
Mr Tuyen said that on the 355km international route, the train will depart from Nanning railway station at 7am and from Gia Lam railway station, Hanoi, at 7pm.
