Industrial parks in Binh Duong province have so far this year earned over US$5 billion, an increase of 36 percent over the same period last year, according to a report by the provincial People’s Committee.

In 2008 alone, Binh Duong attracted 124 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects and 38 domestic ones.

Currently, the industrial parks have a total of 984 FDI projects and 296 domestic ones, enhancing production in the province’s key industrial sectors.

Moreover, they have created jobs for 31,000 labourers in 2008. There are 250,000 labourers working in the industrial parks.

The industrial parks have contributed 60-65 percent of the province’s industrial production value and 34 percent of export turnover.

Most of the industrial parks in Binh Duong province have registered environmental standards with the government and applied measures to minimize pollution.

However, a minority of enterprises have violated environmental standards, leading to pollution in certain areas of the province.
