USDA approves dragon fruit exports
Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) said the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has approved fresh dragon fruit commercial imports from Vietnam to the US after reaching APHIS standards.
APHIS requires that dragon fruit exports to the US must be irradiated by APHIS certified equipment. Exports must also have a certificate from the Vietnam Plan Protection Department under APHIS standards.
MoIT noted that Vietnam is the third country to get permission to irradiate the fruit exports at home before they are exported to the US . The two other countries are Thailand and India.
