Many cement projects still not up by year’s end
The Vietnam Cement Corporation has reported to the Ministry of Construction about the tardiness of a series of cement projects, which may make it impossible to churn out cement to satisfy domestic demand by the end of 2008 or early 2009 as previously targeted.
Projects which have been slow in implementation and caused the corporation and the Ministry of Construction concern include the package No 7D of the Binh Phuoc Cement Plant (contractor is the Vietnam Industrial Zone and Urban Development Corporation IDICO); and the main items of the Quang Tri cement grinding workshop and the cement grinding house of Bim Son Cement Plant (contractor is Construction Company No 2 under the Hanoi Construction Corporation).
Meanwhile, under the strategy on cement industry development by 2010 with vision to 2020 which has been approved by the Prime Minister, the said cement projects need to churn out their initial products by the end of 2008 or early 2009.
As these are all very important projects, Deputy Minister of Construction Cao Lai Quang has sent a dispatch to the contractors who are executing the projects, requesting that they take necessary measures to speed up the projects.
The Vietnam Cement Corporation itself has also been asked to cooperate closely with contractors, speed up the fulfilling of procedures (advancing, making payment) in order to ensure that the products will churn out their goods on schedule.
