Japanese-funded power plant to be built in Thai Binh

A Japanese-financed thermo electric power plant will be built in the Red River delta province of Thai Binh following an approval from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The construction of the 600-MW Thai Binh Power Plant I is estimated to cost 12.96 trillion VND (approximately 789.7 million USD), with 85 percent of which sourcing as loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the remaining, the Electricity of Vietnam.

Construction of the plant will begin in the fourth quarter of next year and is scheduled for completion by 2013. Once operational, the plant is expected to consume more than 1.53 million tonnes of coal and 46,000 tonnes of limestone a year.
