Dak Lak develops industrial plants in southern Laos

The Dak Lak Rubber Company from Central Highlands Dak Lak province during this year’s rainy season planted 2,800 ha of rubber and other industrial plants in southern Lao provinces of Champassak, Saravan and Attopeu.

As a result, the total acreage of industrial crops planted in the southern Lao provinces has increased to over 9,000 ha, including 8,000 ha of rubber plants, 700 ha of cashew plants, 200 ha under coffee trees and 80 ha of eucalyptus.

Since 2004, the company has been carrying out a 30 million USD project to plant 10,000 ha of rubber plants and industrial crops in the southern Lao provinces in accordance with an economic cooperation programme between the two countries.

Under the 50-year industrial crop development project, the company is expected to complete the planting of new crops by 2010.
