Vietnam’s first auto mechanics park to be built
An industrial park dedicated to producing automobile parts and accessories, the first of its kind in Viet Nam, will be set up in Quang Nam province, said the Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company (THACO).
This information was released at the Sunday meeting held by THACO to mark the 5th anniversary of the establishment of Chu Lai – Truong Hai Automobile Plant, a subsidiary of THACO in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, Quang Nam province.
According to its plan, the said park, to cover an area of 1.300 ha, will be expanded from THACO's existing automobile complex in the Chu Lai Zone.
When put into operation, the park will call for cooperation from local and foreign partners in manufacturing automobile parts and accessories for domestic use and export, said THACO General Director Tran Ba Duong.
Over the past four years, THACO has marketed 32,262 cars of various kinds, earning a total revenue of some VND6,500 billion (about US$390 million), generating jobs for 2,000 workers with an average wage of VND1.7 million per month.
Early this year, a factory manufacturing and assembling tourist cars of THACO has been put into operation in its first phase. Total investment for the factory is estimated at VND650 billion.
