Vietnam, Argentina cooperate in wind power
Vietnam and Argentina have reached an agreement to cooperate in manufacturing wind and hydro power equipment and exploring possibility to carry out offshore wind power projects in Vietnam.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) Power Corporation and Argentina’s Pescarmona Metallurgical Industries (IMPSA), the two sides will also join hands in implementing a wind power project in Vietnam’s central Binh Thuan province.
IMPSA will help PetroVietnam Power to take part in oil exploration and exploitation projects in Argentina and in the long term, the two businesses will jointly invest in a third country.
PetroVietnam Chairman Dinh La Thang, who led a PetroVietnam delegation to pay a working visit to Argentina from August 29-31, said his group considers Argentina and South America one of its strategic markets in addition to the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States and African countries.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Thai Van Lung said the agreement marked the most important economic milestone in the 35-year history of bilateral diplomatic ties.
