Jetstar Pacific releases schedule for new international services
Vietnam Air begins service to Dong Hoi, lowers surcharges
Jetstar Pacific will launch new daily services between HCMC and regional destinations in late October and November as part of a network expansion strategy.
Luong Hoai Nam, chief executive officer of jetstar Pacific, told the Daily on the phone last week that the low-cost carrier would launch services to Thailand's Bangkok on October 31, Cambodia's Siem Reap on November 3 and Singapore on November 14.
Nam said Vietnam's first budget and second biggest airline would use its 168-seat Boeing B737-400 aircraft for the new international flights, which provide more choices for passengers, particularly those wishing to visit key tourist destinations in these three regional countries.
Jetstar Pacific will load tickets on the website at www.jetstar.com in September for passengers to book for the new routes.
Jetstar Pacific now operates code-share services to Bangkok and Singapore under the deals with Bangkok Airways and Jetstar Asia, using the aircraft of these foreign airlines.
Jetstar Pacific is expected to receive the first single-aisle Airbus A320 in early September, and plans to have a fleet of 30 fuel-efficient Airbus A320s by 2014 to replace its existing fleet of Boeing B737-400s.
Nam said the launch of daily domestic flights to well-known tourist sites including Dalat and Buon Ma Thuot in the Central Highlands, and Can Tho in the Mekong Delta city was also in the carrier's development plan.
Last month, Jetstar Pacific announced to lift its daily service between HCMC and Nha Trang from September 5 to reserve its aircraft for other domestic routes and new international services with high seat occupancy in the face of rising fuel cost.
To attract more bookings for the current domestic flights, Jetstar Pacific has launched promotional fares for passengers to book until September 15 for travel between September 8 to October 25.
The fares start from VND350,000 for the flights between HCMC and Hanoi and Danang, and VND650,000 for the routes: HCMC-Hanoi, HCMC-Haiphong, HCMC-Vinh, Hanoi-Danang, and Hanoi-Nha Trang.
* Vietnam Airlines is ready to commence three weekly flights from Hanoi to Dong Hoi of the central province of Quang Binh on September 1 to meet the increasing demand for air travel between these destinations.
The national flag air carrier's ATR-72 plane will depart Hanoi at 8.30 a.m. and Dong Hoi at 10.40 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flight takes one hour and a half.
Vietnam Airlines is promoting fares from VND400,000 for a single trip from September 10 to December 15 on the 27th domestic flight route connecting Hanoi and Dong Hoi, which is near the World Heritage-listed Phong Nha-Ke Bang caverns.
The airline will lower fuel surcharges by VND10,000 to VND100,000 for flights between the country's two largest cities - Hanoi and HCMC, and other destinations, namely Danang, Hue, Pleiku and Chu Lai, from September 4.
A drop of VND30,000 or VND150,000 will apply to flights between Hanoi and HCMC, and from these cities to Haiphong, Nha Trang, Dalat, Buon Ma Thuot, Vinh, Can Tho, and Dong Hoi.
Vietnam Airlines is now promoting air travel on its domestic flights from September 8 to October 31 by offering fares of VND550,000 for flights from Hanoi and HCMC, to Danang and Hue, and VND880,000 for the flights from HCMC to Hanoi, Haiphong, Vinh and Hanoi to Buon Ma Thuot and Nha Trang.
