Government orders inspection of all gas stations nationwide
All gas stations nationwide will be inspected and strict penalties will be imposed against those found breaching regulations, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai announced at a meeting Tuesday in Hanoi.
The session at the government office aimed to find solutions to trade violations in fuel, fertilizers and pesticides. It was attended by representatives from the ministries of Industry and Trade, Public Security, Finance, Science and Technology and Agriculture and Rural Development.
Hai said recent trade contraventions of these commodities have raised concerns among the public and relevant authorities and he instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to issue tough penalties against violating fuel distributors.
Gas stations in the wrong would be ordered to compensate victimized customers and face potential revocation of business licenses or criminal charges.
Regarding trade of fertilizers and pesticides, Hai instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to establish strict conditions and criteria for manufacturers and sellers.
He also suggested setting up a unified and regulated distribution system for fertilizers and pesticides to ensure fair prices and optimum quality for purchasing farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was tasked with improving information channels through cooperation with local authorities to update farmers on the quality of fertilizers and pesticides.
Dozens of gas stations nationwide have been caught cheating customers by doctoring their gas pumps.
