The role of chief information officers highlighted
The 2008 Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference officially opened in Hanoi on September 17 with a focus on transforming business through innovation and execution.
Held in Vietnam for the fourth time, the Conference provided a good opportunity for leading CIO inside and outside the country to meet and share experiences and business innovations in a bid to increase the effectiveness of business operation.
According to the Global CIO Magazine, a CIO must be a successful symbol of expertise in public relations as well as in strategic planning and decision making processes. In other words, a CIO must have a thorough understanding of business operation and technology application to meet the growing demands for business efficiency and competitiveness.
Le Thanh Tam, Managing Director of IDG Vietnam and Indochina, said that by promoting CIO activities, IDG aims to create strong links among the information technology community and honour those who make great contributions to the development of their own organisations as well as the national economy.
The 2008 CIO Conference aimed to find distinguished CIOs in different industries for both State and private sectors.
During the conference, three panel discussions will also be held with the participation of awarded CIOs in the past three years and many leading foreign experts in the field of information and communication technology. They will discuss business strategies, future models of CIOs, as well as new ways to improve market information and business competitiveness.
