Show capitalises on building boom
Con-Build Viet Nam 2008, an international trade fair for construction machinery, vehicles and materials, manufacturing equipment, technology and services will be held at Viet Nam Exhibition Fair Centre from September 9-12.
The exposition, organised by Munich International Trade Fairs Pte Ltd (MMI) in co-operation with Viet Nam Ministry of Construction, will feature exhibitors from China, Germany, Finland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, the United States and Viet Nam.
"The event will concentrate on consolidating business potential for the domestic construction industry, which is growing at about 11 per cent a year," said Ronald Unterburger, MMI managing director.
The exhibition will feature conferences on technology for producing industrial sand and prefabrication of concrete products among other topics. The events focus on environmental protection, eco-management, transport and logistics.
To highlight Viet Nam’s need for a solid construction industry, Nguyen Thi Hanh, deputy director of Ministry of Construction’s Urban Development Agency said that the urbanisation rate was now 30 per cent – and was expected to reach 45 per cent in 2020 and 50 per cent in 2025.
"The demand for investment in urban development is great," she said.
Major construction
Eight hundred domestic and foreign businesses will showcase the latest construction and decorative products and services at Vietbuild 2008 Expo, a five-day building industry event to be held in HCM City from September 3.
Construction materials, interior decoration products, glass, electrical and sanitary equipment, housing, machinery and a lot more will be on display. Seminars will be held on the newest products and technologies and on issues such as European regulations on technical evaluation.
The organisers also said an awards ceremony, to be broadcast live on September 6 on VTV1 channel, would honour businesses with the Construction Trademark Gold Cup and Vietbuild Gold Medal.
The awards aim to encourage businesses to improve product quality, create new products, and develop trademarks.
The exhibition will be held at the Phu Tho Gymnasium, District 11.
