Vietnam Airlines cuts down expenses
So far this year, Vietnam Airlines has reduced spendings by 400 billion VND in response to the government’s calls for thrift, said Trinh Ngoc Thanh, spokesman of the national flag carrier.
The airline’s affiliates have focused on petrol savings, cutting regular spendings, improving the efficiency of the maintenance of aircrafts and engines, and suspending non-essential investment projects.
In the first haft of this year, Vietnam Airlines conducted more than 29,700 flights, carrying almost 4.5 million passengers, 15 percent over the same period last year and representing 49.5 percent of this year’s plan. It earned a total turnover of more than 12 trillion VND, a 28 percent year-on-year increase.
