Measures to lower animal feed prices

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has submitted proposals to the Prime Minister on measures to solve difficulties to boost the development of the animal husbandry sector.

The ministry has proposed that materials and animal feed should be listed to the List of imported necessities. The import tariff for materials for animal feed is proposed to be reduced to 0%. The customs sector is requested to simplify administrative procedures upon customs clearance and seaports should work out measures to increase handling capacity to quickly unload products that are materials for production of animal feed.

The animal husbandry sector has met with a lot of difficulties in the early months of 2008 due to high increase in feed prices. In order to meet the target of 5% growth of the sector that has been set for this year, relevant agencies and sectors need to work out urgent measures.
