Vietnam, Thailand keen to cooperate in the rubber industry

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Rubber Industrial Group and the Vietnam Rubber Association held a meeting in HCM City on July 17 with the Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to discuss the possibility of cooperation.

At the meeting, Thailand’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Theereachia Saenkaew is keen to work with Vietnam and share scientific information, train technicians and experts and develop the consumer market for rubber products.

Currently, Thailand is the world’s leading rubber producer with annual output of 3 million tonnes of rubber. Mr Saenkaew said Thailand wants to cooperate with Vietnam in transfer its export products through Da Nang port to such markets as China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong agreed with the plans put forward by Thailand and assign the Vietnam Rubber Industrial Group to be responsible for dealing with their Thai counterparts.
