Export for aquatic products up nearly 16% in first half

Export turnover for aquatic products in the first half of this year has reached US$1.91 billion, up nearly 16% compared to the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Weather conditions have been quite favorable for seafood catching since early in the year. A total sea products output in June was estimated to reach 165,000 tonnes in which the sea catch output hit 154,000 tonnes and inland catch output, 11,000 tonnes.

A total sea products output in the first half of this year reached more than 1 million tonnes, up 51% against the target, down 0.3% compared to the same period last year.

The statistics shows that the aquaculture output in June reached 318,000 tonnes, bringing a total aquaculture output in the first half to over 1 million tonnes, up 43,5% against the target and nearly 25% year on year.
