ANZ: Launches new service in Vietnam

The ANZ Vietnam, an affiliate of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), on July 10 introduced a new service, mobile banking, in Hanoi .

Speaking at the launching ceremony, ANZ Vietnam Executive Director Matt Millard said that ANZ considered Vietnam one of its three key markets in Asia-Pacific and the new free service is one of the bank’s efforts to expand its operations in the country.

According to mobile banking service director Huynh Trung Minh, the new service will be initially provided in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City . The two cities with a total of more than 10 million people are potential markets for the bank, he said.

Being the first foreign bank to operate in Vietnam since 1993, ANZ has developed its ATM system and expanded internet banking service in the country.

The Bank has been named as the best retail bank in Vietnam by the Asian Banker 2008.
