Fisheries exhibition anchors in Ho Chi Minh City
As many as 128 Vietnamese and international companies are exhibiting at this year’s Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish), which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on June 12.
Half of the exhibition’s 224 stalls feature seafood products and the remaining stalls belong to businesses providing services, transportation, machines, equipment and chemicals for the fisheries sector.
Recognising the 10 th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Le Phuong praised VASEP’s contribution to the development of seafood processing and exports over the past decade.
Phuong said Vietnam has become one of the top ten seafood producing countries and ranks third in the world in terms of aquaculture and sixth in terms of seafood processing and exports.
At the opening ceremony, the Vietfish organisers presented 20 gold medals to high quality seafood products, and the “Original Seafood Product” award to two products of 15 businesses.
During Vietfish, which runs from June 12-14, a cooking contest and seminars on seafood export to the US market, frozen storage and industrial refrigeration compressors will be held.
