Stock market continues to see massive losses
Gloomy atmosphere continued to cover both southern and northern bourses on May 13 with market indicators witnessing massive losses. VN-Index hit a record low as it dropped under 500 points while HASTC-Index dropped to below the 150 point mark. Trading volumes and values were also at a record low.
Investors rushed to place selling orders while very few bought. On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, none of the stock listed report gains. Only two maintained reference prices (VTB and SGT) and eight others had no trade. Of the total 144 stocks that dropped, 143 hit floor prices.
The VN-Index closed at 483.92, down, 8.12 points or 1.65%. Total trading volume hit a low record of only 1.3 million shares and fund certificates worth VND 49 billion traded via both order matching and negotiations methods.
DPM continued to top the list of five most heavily traded stocks, however the volume decreased sharply compared to previous session with only 230,630 units matched, followed by STB (120,780 units), SSI (97,600 units), VHC (85,100 units) and VHG (51,650 units).
In Hanoi, the HASTC-Index lost another 3.41 points (2.25%) to close at 147.86. Only 535,000 shares were traded today worth VND 17.65 billion.
Only three stocks reported gains, two stayed still, eight had no trade and 123 were decliners, 121 of them hit floor prices.
This has been the seventh consecutive decrease on the southern bourse and the eighth drop in a row in the northern bourse.
