VN-Index drops below 500 points
The VN-Index yesterday continued to suffer a sharp drop of 1.66% to close below the 500 point-mark for the second time within less than two months while HASTC-Index also saw a 1.92% to finish at only a little higher than the 150 point mark. Trading volumes remained at low levels.
Specifically, the southern benchmark lost 8.29 points to close at 492.04, lower than the low record of 496.54 points it hit on March 25 session.
Total market trading volume was merely 2.76 million units worth VND 135 billion. Of these, 2.2 million worth VND 102 billion were traded through order matching method.
Foreign investors continued to account for a large proportion of the total securities traded on the southern bourse yesterday. They bought a total of nearly 1.6 million shares, fund certificates and bonds worth VND 90 billion via both order matching and negotiations methods.
None of the total 154 listed stocks on the southern bourse reported gains. OnlyVPL managed to maintain its reference price and BTC had no trade while 152 others were all losers.
DPM continued to top the list of most active stocks in volume with over 1.2 million shares matched, accounting for nearly 55% of the total units traded via order matching method , followed by STB (126,130 units), SSI (99,240 units), SHC (71,710 units) and ITA (58,800 units).
In the northern bourse, HASTC-Index lost 2.96 points to close at 151.27. Only 558,400 shares were traded for VND 25.5 billion. There were five gainers against 100 losers and 31 others reported no trade. Stocks that most traded included NVC with over 84,000 shares matched, MIC (nearly 79,000 units), BCC (over 43,000 units), ACB (nearly 33,000 units) and TBC (26,700 units).
