Southern bourse suspends temporary trading
The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) today announced a temporary trading suspension due to an extraordinary technical incident which affected the trading system at 8.53 am, May 27th 2008.
Technical specialists of HOSE are urgently attempting to discover the cause and solve the problem, the southern bourse announced on its website. In the meantime, HOSE has temporarily suspended trading. HOSE is trying its best to solve the problem as quickly as possible.
At the closing today, the HOSE Live Stock Price still displayed the figures of yesterday’s session.
This is the third time the HOSE trading system has experienced technical difficulties. The other two incidents occurred in February 2, 2007 and December 8, 2006.
Trading activities on the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre were normal. The HASTC-Index today saw its 18th decrease in a row, losing 2.29 points or 1.83% to close at 123.17.
Only three stocks reported gains while 94 others declined, most of them hitting their floor prices. Two stocks maintained their reference prices and up to 38 other had no trade.
Total trading volume was still low, only 556,000 shares were matched for VND 15.7 billion.
