Plastic firm builds second factory to double output
TPC Vina Plastic & Chemical Corp., Vietnam’s first polyvinyl chloride (PVC) joint venture, began construction of its second factory last week.
The US$36 million PVC resin production line, being built in Dong Nai Province’s Go Dau Industrial Zone, will be ready by the end of this year.
It will double the joint venture’s total annual capacity to 200,000 tons.
A source from the company - a joint venture between Thai Plastic and Chemicals PCL, Vietnam National Chemical Corporation and Vinaplast, said it was planning to build a third plant in a couple of year’s time.
The joint venture is the country’s only other PVC maker besides PMPC, and the two together produce 220,000 tons a year to meet 60-70 percent of demand.
