High salaries for several state-owned groups in 2011
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has recently announced the average salaries of state-owned corporations and groups last year, many of which were exorbitant.
Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) topped the list with the average salary of VND16.2 million (USD770.1)/person/month in 2011. This figure was up 7.5% from 2010.
It was followed by Saigon Beer – Alcohol – Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) with an average salary of VND9.7 million (USD461.1) per month and the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) averaged at VND8.6 million (USD408.8) per month.
EVN’s figure was higher than its averaged payment of VND8.3 million (USD394.5) per month in 2010. The figure was also higher than the VND7.3 million (USD347) claimed recently by the group’s general director Pham Le Thanh.
In 2011, Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) paid an average monthly salary of VND7.7 million (USD366).
VietNam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) and Vietnam Industrial Construction Corporation (VINAINCON) was at the bottom of the list, with an average monthly salary of only VND3.9 million (USD185.4).
Corporations operating in the fields of engineering, plastics and paper paid an average salary of less than VND6 million (USD285.2).
Salaries of 17 corporations and groups directly under the management of the MoIT averaged at around VND6.7 million (USD318.5) per month during the year.
