Kuwaiti investment in Vietnam reaches $2 bln

Total Kuwaiti investment in Vietnam has reached US$2 billion, the Consul General of Kuwait in Ho Chi Minh City Abdulaziz Alsharrah said at a meeting on Wednesday.

Speaking at a meeting marking Kuwaiti National Day and the 18th anniversary of liberation from Iraqi forces, the Consul General said Kuwaiti investment in Vietnam is in the petrochemical sector.

Additionally, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has provided more than $100 million for infrastructure development in Vietnam, according to Alsharrah.

In 1997, Kuwait became the first Persian Gulf country to establish a Vietnamese embassy.
