Rural craft villages earn 850 million USD from export

Products of more than 2,000 craft villages nationwide were shipped to over 100 countries world wide, bringing about an estimated 850 million USD in export earnings in 2008, according to the Vietnam Craft Villages Association.

As a result, craftmen earned 3-4 times more than those work in agriculture.

However, difficulties access to capital sources prevent 80 percent of craft villages from renovating technology and expanding production scale, thus limiting their capacity of model designing and competitiveness.
