- In 1990: United Shipping Agency Joint Stock Company was established, under the Vietnam Maritime Union.
- On July 24, 1993: The company converted to a joint stock company with the name United Shipping Agency Joint Stock Company. Charter capital was VND 6.2 billion.
- In 1995: Established Phuoc Long ICD, the first type of Dry Port in Vietnam.
- In 2001: Raised charter capital to VND 200 billion.
- In 2002: Listed Gemadept shares on the stock market.
- In 2004: Established 2 companies with 100% Gemadept capital in Singapore and Malaysia.
- In 2006: Issued shares to increase charter capital to VND 475 billion.
- In 2008: Put into operation 4 important projects: Gemadept Tower, Schenker-Gemadept Logistics Center and 2 ports in Dung Quat, Hai Phong.
- In 2010: Raised charter capital to VND 1,000 billion; Put into operation Tan Son Nhat air cargo terminal; Raised ownership ratio in Nam Hai Port Company to 99.98%.
- In 2012: Put into operation Distribution Center No. 2 in Song Than Industrial Park, Binh Duong; Started construction of Nam Hai Dinh Vu Container Port.
- In 2013: Raised charter capital to VND 1,144 billion, completed and put into operation Nam Hai Dinh Vu Container Port.
- In 2015: Renamed to Gemadept Joint Stock Company.
- On November 15, 2017: Raised charter capital to VND 2,882,769,570,000.
- On December 4, 2018: Increase charter capital to VND 2,969,249,570,000.
- On January 28, 2021: Increase charter capital to VND 3,013,779,570,000.
- On April 24, 2024: Increase charter capital to VND 3,104,869,570,000.
