VN-Index stays red second day

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell the second trading session on May 29 while liquidity severely drained.

The gauge of 304 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange trimmed 0.93 per cent, or 4.04 points, to close at 431.44 points with 91 gainers, 171 losers, and 47 stocks remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse fell by 28.6 per cent in volume, and 24 per cent in value over the previous trading session as more than 47.68 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND720.27 billion.

Binh Duong Trade and Development Joint Stock Company (TDC) was the most active share in volume with 2.41 million shares changing hands.

SACOM Development and Investment Corporation (SAM) followed with 1.46 million shares.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank (STB) ranked third with 1.44 million shares traded.

Idico Urban & House Development Joint Stock Company (UIC) nosedived 13.93 per cent to close at VND10,500.

Water Supply Sewerage Construction & Investment Joint Stock Company (VSI) submerged 13.21 per cent to close at VND9,200.

Seaprodex Refrigeration Industry Corporation (SRF) froze 6.18 per cent to close at VND25,800.

Dien Quang Joint Stock Company (DQC) rose for three straight trading sessions, building up 5 per cent to close at VND23,100.

Construction & Materials Trading Joint Stock Company (CNT), Societe De Bourbon Tay Ninh (SBT), and Dry Cell and Storage Battery Joint Stock Company (PAC) enhanced 4.95 per cent to close at VND10,600, VND19,100, and VND21,200.

Becamex Asphalt & Concrete Joint Stock Company (ACC) surged 4.93 per cent to close at VND21,300.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – dropped 2.63 points, or 0.51 per cent, to end at 510.81. Among its 30 members, 6 stocks climbed, 18 receded, and 6 closed unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north shrank 0.4 per cent, or 0.3 points, to close at 75.3 points with 71 winners, 148 losers, and 81 stocks treading water. Around 32.09 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND333.26 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares clipped 0.3 per cent, or 0.11 points, to close at 36.38 points. A total of 437,826 shares changed hands at VND2.89 billion.
