STB: Explanation for business result in Q1.2012

Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) has explained business result in Q1.2012 as follows:

-         After-tax profit in Q2/2010 was VND756 billion, increasing VND303 billion or 66.9% compared to Q1/2011 due to the following reasons:

-         Net income increased VND329 billion compared to Quarter 1/2011 earnings from credit activities were higher than interest expenses for mobilizing capital.

-         Income from service activities decreased VND149 billion mainly payment service decreased VND145 billion.

-         Income from foreign exchange trading increased VND200 billion

-         Income from securities increased VND120 billion because in Quarter 1/2011 the bank deducted securities provision by VND43 billion while in Quarter 1/2012 reimbursement of securities provision leading to different VND120 billion.

-         Activity expense increased VND209 billion because expansion of operation network, consumer prices rose impact to activity expense and salary to employees was higher than Quarter 1/2011.
