Shares continue to rise on stronger investor sentiment
Stocks continued to rise this morning as investors increased buying based on belief in a stronger future uptrend.
On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index advanced 1.07 per cent to close this morning's session at 491.52 points.
Market value jumped 25 per cent over yesterday morning to nearly VND1.59 trillion (US$75.7 million) on a volume of 92.2 million shares.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 190-55, led by blue chips.
Seventeen of the 30 leading shares by market value and liquidity rallied, pushing the VN30 Index up 1.46 per cent to 560.39 points.
Bank shares all gained this morning. Both Military Bank (MBB) and Sacombank (STB) hit the ceiling, while Viecombank (VCB), Eximbank (EIB) and Vietinbank (CTG) increased from 1.5-2.7 per cent.
MBB was also the most active code on the southern bourse this morning with 5.44 million shares changing hands, closing at the ceiling of VND15,700 ($0.75).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 1.18 per cent to finish this morning at 84.78 points.
Trading value grew 22 per cent over yesterday morning's session, totalling VND897.5 billion ($42.7 million) as over 78 million shares were exchanged.
Advancers edged out decliners by a margin of 197-80. Habubank (HBB) continued to lead trades on the Ha Noi market with nearly 6.6 million shares changing hands, gaining another 3 per cent to settle at VND6,800
