East, West firms flock to expo
Vietnam Expo 2012, which opened in the capital yesterday, offers Vietnamese firms good opportunities to update information on overseas markets.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien said the event would help boost domestic trade, foster exchanges between Vietnamese and foreign companies, thus actively contributing to the country's international integration.
Belarus's Deputy Minister of Trade, Edvard Matulis, said the fair drew strong attention from business people in his country.
The number of Belarusian enterprises had increased year by year to the present total of about 50. Belarusians are interested in Viet Nam's huge potential, especially for cars, machinery and science and technology.
On the sidelines, the Belarusian delegation will discuss the establishment of a trade office in Ha Noi to accelerate trade relations.
A representative from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in Ha Noi said the great number of Korean companies at the expo indicated the fruitful ties between the two countries and a deep desires by Korean companies to set up partnerships with Vietnamese.
More than 600 domestic and foreign companies are exhibiting at the expo. They come from Japan, South Korea, Russia, India, Cuba, Belarus, mailand China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
The expo, which ends on Saturday, is showcasing wooden furniture, handicrafts, agricultural products, processed food, electronics, information technology, packing and printing, machinery, construction materials, and textiles and garments.
