Boosting Vietnam-Yunnan (China) cooperation
Nearly 500 Vietnamese and Chinese businesses attended a forum on economic cooperation in Yunnan province on April 3.
The event, co-organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Yunnan provincial People’s Committee, aimed to provide opportunities for businesses to build mutual trust and bring bilateral relations to a new height.
President of the VCCI Vu Tien Loc said the forum has opened a new period of cooperation in which Vietnamese businesses will help Chinese partners from Yunnan province enter Vietnamese and ASEAN markets, while Chinese businesses will serve as a bridge to the import of Vietnamese goods into China.
At the forum, seven cooperation projects were signed in connection with purchasing 220,000 tonnes of coffee from Vietnam, building a coffee processing chain with an annual capacity of 5,000 tonnes, setting up a wood furniture company with an estimated capitalization of $30 million, and developing a scientific and technological base for production at a cost of $12.77 million.
In particular, the Kunming provincial People’s Committee (China) and the Danang municipal People’s Committee (Vietnam) signed a protocol on establishing sister relationship.
