Market enjoys robust trading 

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index declined from a five-month high on February 28 as investors sold shares to take profits of previous gain.

Shares of 303 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange slashed 1.44 per cent, or 6.19 points, to close at 422.22 points.

Among the index members, 65 increased, 198 decreased, while 45 stocks remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse jumped by 87 per cent in volume and 85 per cent in value over the previous trading session as around 121.72 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.72 trillion.

Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) led the list of most active shares in volume with 4.77 million shares changing hands.

The fifth largest listed lender Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) followed with 4.09 million shares traded.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) came next with 3.88 million shares.

Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) nosedived 14.29 per cent to close at VND600.

Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) plunged 11.11 per cent to close at VND800.

Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) shrank 10 per cent to VND900.

Cotec Investment & Land-House Development Joint Stock Company (CLG) and Long Hau Corporation (LHG) climbed 5 per cent to finish at VND12,600 and VND18,900 respectively.

Viet Nhat Medical Instrument Joint Stock Company (JVC) leaped forward 4.97 per cent to close at VND19,000.

Cuu Long Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Corporation (DCL) advanced for three consecutive trading session, gaining 4.93 per cent to close at VND14,900.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange - sank 4.96 points, or 1.02 per cent, to end at 480.89. Among its 30 members, 3 stocks rallied, 26 declined and one closed unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north sank 2.99 per cent, or 2.07 points, to close at 67.09 points with 91 winners, 200 losers, and 51 stocks stalled. Around 135.74 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.02 trillion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares revived 0.23 per cent, or 0.08 points, to 34.55 points at 11.30 am local time. A total of 3,453,975 shares changed hands at VND152.48 billion.
