VN-Index inches up fourth day
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index extended its winning streak to four straight trading sessions on January 12 as blue-chip stocks struggled to maintain rising momentum although losers doubled gainers.

Shares of 301 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange rallied 0.2 percent, or 0.68 points, to close at 348.11 points.
On the city bourse, 82 stocks gained, 132 fell, while 92 remained unchanged.
Trading on the southern trading floor dropped by 16 percent in volume and 13 percent in value over the previous day as 24.4 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND367 billion.
The fourth largest listed bank Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) remained the most active share in volume the tenth consecutive trading session with 4.43 million shares changing hands.
Viet Nhat Medical Instrument Joint Stock Company (JVC) took second place with 816,750 shares.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company (HAG) tailed after with 753,380 shares traded.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) restored 14.29 percent to close at VND800.
Ben Thanh Rubber Joint Stock Company (BRC) and Trans-forwarding Warehousing Corporation Ho Chi Minh City (TMS) both fortified 5 percent to close at VND6,300 and VND21,000 respectively.
Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) climbed for three trading sessions in a row, gaining 4.93 percent to VND42,600.
Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) slumped 7.33 percent to finish at VND13,900. The company will pay dividends for the first term of the year 2011 to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 14 percent on February 29.
Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) trimmed 5.88 percent to VND1,600.
Other big losers on the city bourse today included Imexpharm Corporation (IMP), South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG), and Post & Telecommunications Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC).
Meanwhile, Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north dipped 0.13 percent, or 0.07 points, to close at 55.81 points. More than 16.58 million shares changed hands at a value of VND136.91 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares inched up 0.09 percent, or 0.03 points, to 33.4 points at 1pm local time. A total of 32,600 shares changed hands at a value of VND97 million.
