Gold prices reach VND43.72 million/tael

Domestic gold on January 12 rose by VND120,000/tael compared to the previous day and was nearly VND2 million/tael higher than in the world.

In Hanoi, at 9.30am, SJC gold was traded at VND43.4-43.72 million/tael. While Thang Long Dragon gold stood at VND42.3-42.8 million/tael.

There was a wide disparity between the selling and buying prices (somewhere between VND320,000 and 500,000/tael).

In New York, the price of gold was listed at US$1,640.1 per ounce, up US$5 per ounce against the previous transaction.

The exchange rate at commercial banks was VND21,025-21,035 per US dollar but the inter-bank exchange rate remained at VND20,828 per US dollar.
