Stocks wrap week in bearish sentiment
Stocks on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange extended a losing streak in four consecutive trading sessions, dragging Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index to a 30-month low on December 9 as investors lost confidence amid rising uncertainties.

The measure of 301 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange stumbled 1.17 percent, or 4.47 points, to close week at 377.16 points. This week, it lost 1.75 percent, increasing this year’s loss to more than 22 percent.
On the index, 63 stocks climbed, 165 receded, while 78 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse dropped by 24 percent in volume, and 30 percent in value over the previous day as 31.76 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND439 billion.
Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) led the list of most active shares in volume for the second day with 1.53 million shares changing hands.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company (HAG) followed with 1.19 million shares.
Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) came in third with 1.13 million shares traded.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) dumped 9.09 percent to close at VND1,000.
Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) declined for four straight trading session, closing down 5.88 percent to VND1,600.
South Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (VSG) shrank 5.26 percent to VND1,800.
Lu Gia Mechanical Electric Joint Stock Company (LGC) reclaimed 5 percent to close at VND29,400.
Nui Nho Stone Corporation (NNC) resurrected 4.91 percent to VND29,900.
Vietnam Active Fund (VFMVFA), and Ca Mau Frozen Seafood Processing Import Export Corporation (CMX) both edged up 4.76 percent to close at VND4,400.
Meanwhile, Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north erased 1.37 percent, or 0.86 points, to close at 61.73 points. Around 26 million shares changed hands at a value of VND248 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares also stripped 0.03 percent, or 0.01 points, to 34.35 points at 1:45 pm Vietnamese time. A total of 1,002,800 shares changed hands at a value of VND45.02 billion.
