Godaco to keep stable clam export
At the end of November, price of raw fish fell to VND27,000 – 27,500 per kilogram. At this level, companies relying on outside supply were still facing troubles because the raw material price was still higher than finished product price.
General Director of Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (Godaco) Nguyen Van Dao said that since early 2011, the company has invested in fish farming as prediction of difficulties in raw material purchasing. Godaco owned now a farming area of 120 hectares, of which 35 pangasius farms satisfying GlobalGAP standards.
In first ten months of this year, Godaco has exported 13 thousand MT of seafood for US$36 million, boosting its total revenue to VND850 billion. This exceeded the company’s yearly export target of USD32 million.
This year, the EU remained key market of Godaco, accounted for 50 percent of its total export revenue, followed by South America, Middle East and Asia…
According to Mr. Dao, Godaco saw good signs in clam market because the global demand of this species is rocketing in these last months of 2011. However, local supply of clam, particularly white clam declined due to diseases, strongly affecting the company’s export.
So far, Godaco is the leading exporter of bivalve mollusk thanks to keeping the stable clam export.
