BOL to circulate 2000-banknotes this December

The Bank of the Lao PDR has announced it will begin circulating newly designed 2000-kip banknotes on the first of December.

Director General of the Currency Issuing Department of the Bank of the Lao PDR Souphat Khotnhotha told a press conference held on Monday that the new 2000-kip banknotes was made from better quality material and brighter.

He said that the front of the banknote features the image of late President Kaysone Phomvihane, Xiengthong temple, national emblem printed by reflective colour while its back is read the Bank of the Lao PDR in more explicitly manner than the old banknote, image of Seset 2 Hydropower Plant with Lao and international ordinal numbers.

He said that the new 2000-kip banknote which is interchange able with the old ones has been given to the branches of the Bank of the Lao PDR across the country in preparation for nationwide circulation on December 1, one day before the 36th national day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
