Vietinbank appointed as service bank for Hospital Waste Management Support Project.
The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) issued Decision No.1981/QĐ-NHNN on September 6 to appoint the Vietnam Joint-Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) as the service bank for the Hospital Waste Management Support Project financed by the World Bank (WB)
The project is worth SDR 96.1 million (Equivalent to USD 150 million) under Loan Agreement Cr.4899-VN signed between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the World Bank (WB) on May 31, 2011.
The General Director of the BIDV is responsible for providing banking services to the aforesaid project in line with Decree No.131/2006/ND-CP, and the guidelines of SBV, the Ministry of Finance and WB.
The Hospital Waste Management Support Project will be implemented across the country with priority being given to the disadvantaged areas of hospital waste management . The t otal cost of the project is about USD 155 million, of which WB loan is USD 150 million, and counterpart fund is USD 5 million. The project will support the development of the healthcare system of the north central provinces in order to improve the quality of healthcare services as well as enhance accessibility to healthcare services for people, especially the poor and the near-poor, contributing to improving the health and increasing life span, and improving the life quality of people in the region.
