Shares retreat on scant trading

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed this morning's session down 2 per cent at 440.30 points. Decliners outnumber advancers by 173-61.

 

 

 

 

 

Market value dropped 21.4 per cent from yesterday to VND715.5 billion (US$34.6 million) on a volume of 42.8 million shares.

Bluechips failed to make any gains, with food processor Masan Group (MSN) falling to its floor price and eight of the 10 leading shares by capitalisation tumbling between 1.2-3.4 per cent.

Petroleum Trading Construction Company (PXL) was the most active share in HCM City, with more than 2.7 million shares changing hands. It rose the daily limit of 5 per cent to finish at VND6,400.

The benchmark HNX-Index for the Ha Noi Stock Exchange lost 1.14 per cent to conclude the session at 74.58 points.

Around 38.3 per cent of all listed codes posted losses.

Trading value reached only 84 per cent of yesterday's figure, standing at VND417.1 billion ($20.1 million) on a volume of 36.7 million shares.

Kim Long Securities Company (KLS) was still the most heavily traded stock, with 3.3 million shares exchanged.
