VN-Index rallies for four straight day
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index climbed the fourth day to a six-week high on August 30 as investors rushed to buy on optimism of a renewed rising trend.
The index of 295 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, accelerated 1.42 percent, or 5.89 points to close at 419.26 points.
Across the trading floor, there were 183 winners, 48 losers while 69 remained unmoved.
Trading on the city bourse rose by 11 percent in volume and 20 percent in value over the previous trading session as 45.25 million shares changed hands at a value of VND740 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, led the list of most active shares in volume with 3.59 million shares changing hands.
It was followed by Ho Chi Minh City-based Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) with 2.7 million shares.
Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) came in third with 1.9 million shares traded.
Cavico Viet Nam Mining & Construction Joint Stock Company (MCV), Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC), Sieu Thanh Joint Stock Corporation (ST8), and Vinaship Joint Stock Company (VNA) were biggest gainers today. They all sprang the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent to VND6,300, VND12,600, VND12,600, and VND8,400 respectively.
Binh Dinh Minerals Joint Stock Company (BMC) edged up the second day, enhancing 4.94 percent to VND25,500.
Pha Lai Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (PPC) climbed for four consecutive trading sessions, gaining 4.92 percent to VND6,400.
Ca Mau Frozen Seafood Processing Import Export Corporation (CMX), Truong Long Auto & Technology Joint Stock Company (HTL), and TMT Automobile Joint StockCompany (TMT) slashed 5 percent to VND7,600, VND7,600. and VND5,700 respectively.
Seaprodex Refrigeration Industry Corporation (SRF) tripped 4.82 percent to close at VND23,700.
Mekophar Chemical Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (MKP) curbed its four-day winning streak, giving up 4.76 percent to VND50,000.
The HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north advanced for second day, adding up 1.72 percent, or1.23 points, to close at 72.56 points. Trading volume improved by 25 percent in volume over the previous trading session as nearly 67.24 million shares were traded at VND756 billion.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares bounced 1.36 percent, or 0.42 points, to close 31.19 points. A total of 198,374 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.23 billion at 2:30 pm local time.
