UNDP gives 72 bln kip to realise Laos's economic growth
The United Nations Development Programme has donated grant amounting to over 72 billion kip to Laos to support its efforts in realising the current five-year national social economic development plan 2011-2015.
The agreement on the assistance was signed here last Friday, July 15 between Vice-Minister of Planning and Investment Mr. Bounthavy Sisouphanthong and UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Minh Pham. Relevant officials of both sides witnessed the event.
The grant assistance will be used mainly in four sectors including capacity building for organizations and agencies that play role in planning sustainable participatory development, the assessment of the implementation of the current socio-economic development plan, increasing the efficiency of foreign assistance provided through the Roundtable movement for the development in the country and the planning of monitoring the accountable assessment of the national socio-economic development plan throu gh studying into the human resource development sector.
"The grants will contribute to realising the Seventh five-year National Social Economic Development Plan through enhancing the quality of its implementation," said Mr. Bounthavy.
The grant is part of comprehensive package for the stabilisation of the economic growth in the Lao PDR.
