Vientiane GDP to increase by not less than 12%
Vientiane Capital will use its best endeavours to make the growth of GDP in Vientiane Capital to increase by not less than 12 per cent yearly or average per capital income is set about US$4,000 over the next five years.
The ambitious plan has been made by Vientiane Mayor Soukanh Mahalath last Friday at a rally to mark the great achievements of the Ninth Congress of Lao Front for National Construction at the National Culture Hall.
He has expressed his appreciation with the appointments of Mr. Phandouangchit Vongsa as new President of Lao Front for National Construction, Mr. Tong Yeuthor as LFNC�s Vice-President and Standing Committee members and other five Vice-Presidents. The meeting was attended by 161 members of LFNC�s committee.
Mr. Soukanh continued that Vientiane will pay attention to maintain political stability, public security, national defence and address social shortcoming.
Vientiane Capital is aimed at achieving the UN Millenniums Development Goal in term of development and reducing a number of poor households.
We will also pay attention to continue improving of the quality of education, health and labour development skill, said Mr. Soukanh.
Vientiane Capital will also further focus on enhancing cooperation with the strategy friendship countries and friendly countries.
So far the Lao Front for National Construction has mobilised multi-ethnic group nationwide participating to the establishment of cultural villages, sanitary villages and criminal-free villages.
In the year 2010, the Vientiane's gross domestic production achieved 12,180 billion kip or increased by 12.17 per cent, which covered by 17.65 per cent of agriculture sector, 45.88 per cent of industry and construction and 36.47 per cent of service.
