Quality of Gov't websites improves
The Ministry of Information and Communications published a report about the Government's use of information technology and their online presence last Friday.
The ministry surveyed online regulations and how efficiently Government websites can be accessed and utilised.
Twenty-two ministries and ministerial offices and 63 provinces and cities participated in the survey. According to the report, IT and online public services at Government offices have remarkably improved. Most agencies provide comprehensive, required information online.
Thua Thien-Hue, Hau Giang, Dong Nai and Long An provinces and Da Nang City received the highest appraisals in the report. Ha Noi and HCM City also fared well in the rankings.
The Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Finance , the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Science and Technology had some of the best websites at the ministerial level.
With respect to the use of IT applications, Hue, Da Nang, Nghe An, HCM City and Ben Tre received top marks first.
Official websites are providing more comprehensive and up-to-date information that are helping serve individuals and firms, cited the report.
However, the report pointed out that there is a gap between the top-ranked and poorly performing websites that were surveyed. Digital signatures are not being widely used. Only 10 per cent of the provincial offices surveyed are using this application and nearly 40 per cent of ministries and ministerial offices are using the technology.
