Stocks rise but volumes remain low

Stocks in the HCM City market continued rising on Feb. 09 although losers beat gainers by 155-67. The VN-Index added 0.36 per cent to close at 522.59 points.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Blue chips performed well, with Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and VietinBank (CTG) soaring to ceiling prices. BVH closed up 4.8 per cent while CTG closed up 4.7 per cent.

Other blue chips to gain included Vietcombank (VCB) and PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), each up 0.3 per cent, Eximbank (EIB) up 1.3 per cent and Masan Group (MSN) up 4.1 per cent.

The market trading volume was a modest 31.8 million shares at a value of VND857.6 billion (US$52.4 million).

In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index rose 0.68 per cent to 108.39 points.

The volume continued to be low at 27.6 million shares worth VND543.5 billion ($18.8 million).

PetroVietnam Insurance (PVI) closed at its ceiling by an increase of 6.8 per cent. Petroleum stocks gained sharply by an average increase of 1 per cent.
