CPI figures affect stocks
On Dec. 24, stocks reacted differently on the HCM City and Ha Noi markets in response to the General Statistic Office's 2010 inflation figures. The General Statistic Office announced on Dec. 24 that the annual CPI rate had increased 9.19 per cent month-on-month while the year-on-year increase was 11.75 per cent.
In HCM City, the VN-Index continued falling 0.56 per cent to close at 472.76 points, with 127 stocks declining, 89 advancing and 64 closing unchanged.
Volume totalled 55.8 million shares for a brisk VND1.4 trillion ($66.7 million) in value.
Ben Tre Aquaproduct Import-Export (ABT), Kinh Do Corporation (KDC) and Long Hau Corporation (LHG) saw the highest increase in prices, each up VND2,000; Followed by Dinh Vu Port Investment and Development (DVP), up VND1,800 and Hoang Quan Consulting (HQC), up VND1,700.
Several blue chips rallied slightly, including Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), up VND500; Masan Group (MSN), up VND1,000; PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) and Sai Gon Securities Inc (SSI), each up VND100.
While, Bao Viet Holding (BVH), Imexpharm Pharmaceutical (IMP), LIX Detergent Company (LIX) fell the lowest, each down VND3,000; HTI Idico Infrastructure Development Investment (HTI) also dropped VND800; and Sieu Thanh Company (ST8), fell VND1,200.
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index rose 0.06 per cent to 111.29 points, with 129 stocks advancing, 132 declining and 64 unchanged.
Volume was modest with nearly 23 million shares traded, totalling VND441 billion ($20 million).
Hocmon Trade Company (HTC) rose to its ceiling price, up VND2,700; followed by Dong Anh Ceramics (DAC), up VND2,500; Luong Tai Construction Investment (LUT), up VND1,900 and Vinaconex Trading and Manpower (VCM), up VND1,600.
None of blue chips gained points on the HNX-Index.
