Businessmen have to pay dearly for their hobbies
Owning simcards or license plates with “beautiful” numerals and collecting “super” cars have become the hobbies of many businessmen. However, the businessmen complain that their special collections bring much inconvenience.

Nowadays, businessmen not only try to seek license plates with beautiful numerals, but also hunt for mobile phone simcards. Rich businessmen try to own simcards with beautiful numerals not only as a hobby, but also to show their high class in the society. Especially, many businessmen say the numerals can help them obtain profitable contracts and help make their business more prosperous.
According to VnExpress newspaper, the general director of a big bank which is listing its shares on the bourse, is using a mobile phone with the suffixes …6868 (As for Vietnamese, the two numerals symbolize prosperity in business). Meanwhile, general director of an investment fund management company in Vietnam, is having a mobile phone with the suffixes …9999. The director said that in doing business, success depends not only on businessmen’s efforts, but on luckiness as well. Therefore, he is satisfactory with the mobile phone number he has and he feels that the numerals have helped him a lot in business.
Ha, who lives in Long Bien District in Hanoi, the owner of the simcard 09..656666, stated that at first he purchased the simcard for his mobile phone just because he found the numerals “beautiful and easy to remember”. However, he later found out that since he used the simcard, he gets more respect from colleagues and other businessmen. “When they know my mobile phone number, they understand who I am and which class I belong to,” he explained. Especially, the easy-to-remember mobile phone number allows his friends to call him regularly.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Xuan Thang said he decided to own the mobile phone number 0915.96.96.96 because a beautiful number can bring luckiness to its owner. Thang said that his business has been going very smoothly since he has the mobile phone number.
Mobile phone service providers, who have realized the demand for “beautiful” mobile phone numbers, regularly organize auctions where they put the beautiful numbers on sale. In some cases, each of the numbers can be sold for one billion dong.
However, some businessmen acknowledge that they encounter problems with their mobile phone numbers because having those numbers have made them more famous. The businessmen said they regularly receive the calls from strangers who say impolite words.

Many other businessmen also complain that they have to pay heavy prices for their collections because of people’s curiosity. Nguyen Dinh Khoa, General Director of Mekong Land, who has a Rolls Royce, said on VnExpress newspaper that he only uses the car to carry his family to visit relatives or go on excursion, and he dares not use the car in work. Meanwhile, Deputy General Director of Quoc Cuong Gia Lai Company Nguyen Quoc Cuong has become more famous after the US Autoguide reported on his special collection of cars.
However, businessmen have admitted that they profit from the beautiful numerals.
