VN, India seek further trade cooperation

Seminars on investment and business opportunities in Vietnam were recently held in two major cities of India, aiming to step up the bilateral trade promotion programme for 2010.

At the seminars in Mumbai and Pune, Vietnamese commercial counsellor Nguyen Son Ha presented a briefing about Vietnam’s economic, trade and investment policies, the India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement that became effective from June 1, 2010, and the roadmap of tariff removal and exemptions for Indian businesses.

He also provided updated information about Vietnam in reply to Indian business sector’s questions related to investment procedures and incentives, labour, fairs and exhibitions, and consumption in the country.

Indian businesses represented at the seminars said they had a lot of opportunities for business and investment in Vietnam. They suggested potential fields for cooperation, such as pharmaceuticals, information technology, auto industry, food processing, education and training, and human resource development.
